EUREKA! I finally figured it out. Last night as I sat in my home office, typing up some rewrites on "Sunrise Sisterhood", my mind kept wandering.
Over the past month, or even longer, I've had this little voice in my head whispering scenes and scenarios. She wants her story told and I want to tell it but just didn't quite have enough to begin. Last night the pieces of her puzzle started connecting.
I've learned throughout the years of writing to not rush a story. As I get pieces of information, I start a notebook and review that notebook every so often. Usually, within a couple of weeks or so, the story starts to reveal itself and the writing process begins. Sometimes a story line may come together in a day where other times it could take a year or more. I just go with the flow.
When I made the final decision to participate in NaNoWriMo 2015, I didn't have a clue as to what I'd write. I had several story ideas but nothing that would allow me to write 50,000 words in 30 days. I've been working on notes for a ten book series, but I'm still not ready to begin anything other than character outlines on those. (The characters are a little shy right now... ;) ).
During the month of November, I'll introduce you to Bethany Anne Clarke. She's the little voice insisting her story be told. And that's exactly what I plan to do. Thank you Bethany for helping me out with NaNo and I can't wait for everyone to get to know you.
Well, it's almost that time again. NaNoWriMo Time! As most authors know, November is National Novel Writing Month. For the past couple years, I didn't participate (for one reason or another). This November, I'm all about NaNo.
I know it's only October 12th, but for those on a deadline or working a 40 hour week job (me, me, ME!) we need all the planning time and inspirational pep talk we can get.
To all my author friends, how many of you plan to participate in NaNoWriMo 2015? (Raise your hands high, please.)
And to all my non-author friends, if you know someone participating in this November event, please encourage them to keep going until they've reached their goal of 50,000 (or more) words in 30 days.
